Marsala is 2015 colour of the year
Pantone ; the world's colour authority over the past 10 years have been responsible for choosing colours to represent each year and this has been the traditional colour for various industries including fashion, cosmetics and design .
With the not too impressive emerald green of 2013, 2014's chic radiant orchid which is a rich hue between purple, lavender and pink, which many believed was just too casual and wouldn't work in a man's space.
Peharps they decided to take a different turn by choosing Marsala- inspired by the Sicilian wine . Marsala is a rich blend of different red hues mixed with brown . It rich , mature and very traditional.
I see it as a meeting point between red and brown which means if you don't like red and you want to be a bit experimental , then Marsala is just what you need or if you think brown might be too boring for your space, you may want to try Marsala.
In other industries such as fashion I perceive they won't have any challenges delivering the best deliverable with this hue.
Red has actually been my best colour for a while although I had an overwhelming interest in yellow in 2014 .
I avoided red as much as I could in my home and tried to explore light colours which looked nice and inviting but bored and depressed me sometimes. I decided to explore Marsala over the past weekend and yes! It is beautiful . I also repainted my peach bedroom to vibrant pink and lemon. Now, that is so me!
My living room now has Marsala on my right wall, egg shell on the other two walls and a very vibrant monochrome velvet embossed wallpaper with damask design .
How to use marsala
* you can accent if you have neutral colours like grey and mushroom on your walls with Marsala using a floor vase, throw pillows , a clock , your centre piece rug and pretty much anything.
* Marsala works with black, grey, mushroom, orange (as accents. You may need a decorator to pull this one off) , beiges and other earthy colours besides dark brown.
* Marsala looks better with silk , Matt or other rich paints. I wouldn't dare use emulsion
* Marsala inspired flowers in a white vase won't be a bad idea at all
Try this in your space and send me a picture via email: the best picture gets a gift from me.
Have a great weekend!
