Sometimes people think as a writer, its your job to create fictitious essays about how they can do their homes. Then they say to themselves, what's an interior designer's space like? Is it a simple, minimalist design or confused; with too much of everything. i thought i'd share my own little space - a studio apartment which i call home.
Feng shui can be natural or though out with its own formula. i could say its the secret to a achieving harmony in your home interior scheme. The practice of Feng Shui interior design is part of an ancient Chinese concept centered on natural elements. The main goal of Feng Shui is to create harmony between you and your surroundings with balance being the key to success.
There are five main elements in Feng Shui - water, wood, fire, earth and metal.
• Water = blue & black shades (represents positive energy)
• Wood = wood &green shades (represents new life & renewal)
• Fire = red, pink & maroon shades (represents heat & light)
• Earth = orange, yellow & brown shades (represent health & well-being)
• Metal = white, silver, gray & gold shades (represents wealth & prosperity)
Though a traditional map is needed but i didnt use this. Here's how feng shui was applied:
WATER
A shaggy black carpet is used on the floor of this space. Also on the centre rug and patterned fabric sofa.Black represents energy as stated above. my adaptation to black started with discovering my style as a plus sized person.
WOOD & FIRE
White wood is used here to represent purity and new life. i sometimes love white because it gives me a sense of peace and tranquility which is expressed in the part of my space where i relax - The Bedroom. Colours of feminine beauty, passion, fire and dominance are conspicous hues in the space. my fashion pieces are dominated by these colours: red(which happens to be my favourite) and pink.
METAL
Need i say more? silver mirror, shiny crstal details, mirrored butterfly decor, gold apple and pear decor, wrought iron magazine rack, gold and silver embroidered curtains, silver clock.......my list of metal details is endless. my jewelry pieces are mainly gold or silver or combined. i also love metal belts as well as clothes with stones or sequence details. So u see, FENG SHUI isnt an unsolvable mirage. It just takes understanding it. Pictures of my kitchen which is where i have EARTH expressed will be uploaded soon. Thanks for letting me share this with you.
